Illustrator Alex Fine is divine, and like Divine the drag superstar, a staple in the Baltimore Arts. He’s our second interviewed artist to be obsessed with drawing hair. Whether it’s Lorde’s long locks or the purple sheen of a Raven’s feathers, it’s such a treat for the eyes. His clean and retro-inspired style is perfect for his hundreds of spot-on accurate portraits that have graced the covers of websites, magazines, and weekly papers across the US. CNN REPORTER Fredricka Whitfield interviews the Store Owner’s Lawyer (from the store that was “”“”“”“robbed”“”“”“”“”“”” by “”“”“”“”“”mike brown”“”“”“”“”“)
As the lawyer begins to explain what really happened, cnn “”“”“loses the feed”“”“”“
Wtf, that’s a VCR rewinding effect. Did CNN do that intentionally?
piece of filth person I was friends with on Facebook just shared this charming little post:
how fucking dare you
First of all, I am a white person. I have never experienced the pain that many black people go through on a daily basis, and I can’t even begin to understand all the suffering and discrimination that people of this race go through on a daily basis.
However, I find it truly insulting that others choose to look at the tragedy happening in Ferguson and respond by trying to “one-up” it. THIS IS NOT A COMPETITION.
This is not about white people’s suffering.
This is also not about the singular Hispanic death included to avoid seeming even more racist.
A white person has the privilege of being able to wear a hoodie without being ‘suspicious.’
A white person has the privilege of being able to listen to loud music while in their car. A white person has the privilege to not be viewed as a threat due to their skin color.
While the media is in a frenzy about what actually happened, a young man about to go off to college was still murdered by a white policeman. According to autopsy reports, many of the witness’ accounts that Mike Brown had his hands up and kneeling was conducive to his wounds. Is execution a suitable punishment for supposedly stealing a few cigars?
The reason this is on national news and there is so much buzz about it is because the citizens of Ferguson made it that way. The police did their best to suppress it. However, the citizens of Ferguson fought back. They peacefully protest. They spread important information through countless tweets and livestreams. In return the police locks down the city and assault the citizens, members of the media, and even a senator with tear gas, LRAD, death threats, and an assortment of bullets.
However, there is still a lack of verifiable information going out through major news networks. If you want to really know what’s happening and want to make an opinion regarding this, don’t mindlessly repeat the scum flowing from Fox News. Don’t share racist snides from Ted Nugent.
Watch the livestreams. Read the tweets. Listen to the stories of the people that are there and are affected by what is happening.
TL;DR: This is a human rights’ issue. Don’t you dare try to make this about you. Check your privilege.
